What's On in the Hawkesbury

Head to the Hawkesbury to enjoy our spectacular spring events this weekend!

Come along to The Secret Garden for some fun and frivolity with your family this Saturday at their Spring Scarecrow Fair. Let your imagination run wild as you admire the creative abilities of the entrant, or perhaps get in touch with The Secret Garden to submit an entry of your own. There will be hundreds of bargain buys of plants for your spring garden, cute and friendly farm animals, market stalls, and of course a variety of tasty treats to keep you going. Open 9am -2pm with a $2 entry fee (cash only). You will find the Secret Garden on Clydesdale Lane, in the University of Western Sydney Campus, Richmond.

If you’re looking for something a little louder, or a lot faster, you might want to get yourself to the Hawkesbury River at Governor Phillip Park. From 9am both Saturday and Sunday, you will hear the engines roar as The Upper Hawkesbury Power Boat Club plays host to the Windsor Spectacular. Witness the final round of the National Drivers' Championship, Cross Invitational, King of the River and much more. Food trucks will be onsite to keep you nourished, car and boat displays will keep you busy between races and memories will be made. Entry fees apply.

Calling lovers of all vehicles British! Join the Association of British Car Clubs (a group of over 50 car clubs) for a trip down memory lane at Hawkesbury Showground on Sunday. All British Day is open 10am – 3pm, is free for visitors, and will display about 1000 vehicles – old and new. As well as many cars, you will see bikes, motorbikes, buses, fire trucks, military vehicles and even lawn mowers! Reminisce about the car you grew up with, and chat with the owners about their vehicles while enjoying food and coffee available at the event.

That’s not all! Our Hawkesbury is also home to markets with locally grown fresh produce, gardens bursting with spring colour, exhibitions and much, much, more. Discover the possibilities below.

Remote Hawkesbury Cemetery Tour

Remote Hawkesbury Cemetery Tour

Thursday 12 September 2024 Adults $50, Concession $45

Event details

Self-drive tour to historic cemeteries in the far-reaches of the Hawkesbury, many within sight of the river. Pack a BYO picnic lunch to be taken at an idyllic spot along the way.
The tour will be led by Historian Michelle Nichols.
Experience a scenic drive across the rural Hawkesbury district and discover some of the historic cemeteries around the lesser-known parts of this historic region.
Discover the unique stories from some of the graves of early settlers and their families, as well as some of lesser-known residents. We will visit cemeteries at Wisemans Ferry, St Albans, Central McDonald, Sackville Reach and possibly an option of Ebenezer.
Some of the gravesites are formal in style, while others are less structured, some with a headstone, others unmarked, but all are a solemn reminder of the frailty of life and the difficulties of times gone by. There will be several ferry crossings across the majestic Hawkesbury River to travel to the various localities which will add to the enjoyment of the day.
