Barely Wearable continues Ruth Downes’ passion for reappropriating everyday materials and objects to celebrate their intrinsic beauty. By reimagining these materials, Downes’ has created works that transcend their utilitarian function, casting them in a fresh light. The works question our accepted values and how we award status by projecting these everyday materials into the realm of art.

Let's get hunting! It's all about bugs these school holidays!
Bugs, bugs everywhere!
Join us as we search for land-dwelling invertebrates amongst the leaf litter. We'll dip-nets for bugs on the water's edge and make our own take-home bugs from clay and collected natural materials. This will be a great day out amongst the beauty of the Blue Mountains Botanic Garden.
