Open 9am-3pm Anzac Day

logoWelcome to ‘Savour the Flavour’ in the beautiful Hawkesbury region.  This  special event is being held  on Saturday 15th October from 4pm-8pm in the heart of historic Richmond.

Make a weekend of it and seize the opportunity to explore our historic towns, discover our unique attractions and enjoy the fresh produce that is at the heart of the Hawkesbury.

Here's some ideas for the weekend.

MoransSaturday

8am The Hawkesbury is known for it’s beautiful world heritage locations, majestic rivers and national parks.  One of our favourite shorter walks is at the Colo River Lookout and Morans Rock. Leaving Windsor, cross the Hawkesbury River, travel through Wilberforce and make your way along the historic Putty Road, you will find the turn just before the Colo River bridge.  All the details can be found here.

Noon After all that exercise we bet you are hungry! On your way back into Windsor stop in at the Macquarie Boat House Café – it has something delicious on the menu for everyone.  Dine in at this casual café or takeaway your meal and secure a spot on the grass over looking the Hawkesbury River.  The café is known for it’s seafood but also will tempt you with salads, pizzas and burgers. Lunch is sorted!

After lunch head off to your accommodation, we know you will want to freshen up before heading off to Richmond for the Hawkesbury’s much anticipated event – ‘Savour the Flavour’.

3.00pm Drop in at the Visitor Information Centre (located across from the RAAF base) to collect a local map for directions to tomorrows adventures.

4.00pm The fun kicks off in Richmond and concludes at 8 pm.  Our food festival is the perfect spot to celebrate our plentiful Hawkesbury region – located at historic Richmond Park it is the perfect open air venue where you can browse and shop at your leisure.

8pm What a day! Whew… time to get a good night’s rest. A comprehensive listing of accommodation available  can be found here.

With fresh produce featuring so prominently it's no surprise that there is an excellent selection of cafés in the Hawkesbury.

10.30am It’s time to take a walk on the wild side at the Wild Cat Conservation Centre in Wilberforce.  The conservation centre is the only place in Australia you can view the amazing Clouded Leopard, Cheetahs, Servals and Caracals all within the one personalised tour. On the tour you can join the experienced staff on the savanna to observe the wild cats. Experience the thrill as the cats show off their natural behaviours only metres away from you, walking, running or investigating the savanna, showcasing what makes these animals so special. A once in a lifetime experience! Bookings are essential.

A five kilometre bushwalk circuit provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in the Australian bush.
