Air Show Weekend Getaway

The RAAF Richmond Airshow weekend will be a busy and exciting time, with more traffic than usual expected. While the airshow is the main event, we invite you to explore the quieter side of the Hawkesbury—its beautiful parks, historic sites, and local flavours. Use this itinerary to discover the region’s hidden gems before or after the excitement of your day on base.

Turn it into a full weekend getaway—pre-book your overnight accommodation and explore this itinerary on a day when you don’t have an airshow ticket.

Richmond Good Food Market

Morning:
If your free day is Saturday, start your morning early with a visit to the
Richmond Good Food Market. Held in the picturesque Richmond Park, these markets are a local favourite, showcasing fresh produce, artisan breads, gourmet treats, handmade goods, and more - all sourced from local growers and makers.

If your free day is Sunday, visit historic Windsor - one of Australia's oldest European settlements. Take a relaxed stroll through the mall and explore the local markets and unique shops, where you're sure to find something special you didn't even know you were looking for!

Our local markets are the perfect way to enjoy the community spirit, grab a delicious breakfast, and support small busnesses while soaking up the relaxed Hawkesbury atmosphere.

Wildwood Garden

Midday: Soak up the country village charm in Kurrajong, where friendly faces and fresh mountain air set the scene. Take your pick from a range of inviting eateries - whether it's enjoying valley views at The Village Kitchen, 50Three Cafe, or Schembrae's, or discovering something a little different at
Goodie Goodie Gumdrops or Deli LaNa. Each spot offers its own unique flavour and warm hospitality, making Kurrajong a delicious stop on your Hawkesbury adventure.

Afternoon: Celebrate spring with a visit to the beautiful Wildwood Garden, Bilpin. Open during spring from 10am (Friday-Monday).

Bilpin is the perfect place to stop before you make your way home. Known for its crisp mountain air, apple orchards, and of course - its famous pies - Bilpin offers an irresistible selection of sweet and savoury delights. Visit one of the local cafes or roadside bakeries for a warm apple pie or a hearty steak and mushroom pie perfect for the drive home.

Bringing one (or a few!) home is the perfect way to savour a delicious reminder of your time in the Hawkesbury - a little piece of country comfort that lingers long after the trip ends.
